testing

I am trying to add a new background but cant figure it out! Any thoughts??

Christmas 2010

I can not tell you how blessed I feel today. We had the very best Christmas. Michael had to close on Christmas eve so we decided to stay home this year instead of going to my parent's house in Oklahoma. It was a hard decision but we could not drive and come home on the same day. On the 23rd, I was in the kitchen and heard carollers outside. I opened the door and it was Kristi and Danny and my brother and Allison!! It was the greatest surprise!! Then the next morning, I had a knock on the front door and it was my parents!!! LOVED it!! We were able to have lunch with Michael before work and my parents stayed the night and had Christmas with us! Such a blessing! It usually is not possible for any of my family to come here because there are too many of them and they have to work in their extended family too.

Tyler and Tanner got new bikes from Santa and Tatum got a princess jeep. Michael and I got a new camera. Santa brought Michael a new laptop computer which I am using now so hopefully, I can update this blog more often! Ha! Our friends Brett and Melissa came to eat dinner with us too.

The saddest part of today was taking all of the decorations down :( I will post pics soon

Camping

We took the kids camping this weekend to Ray Roberts Lake. It was a 20 min. drive. Wonderful! We were at the best camp site...close enough to bathroom but far enough away in the trees to feel secluded from everyone else. Perfect! We went hiking, on a trail a little too long for my taste, had hot chocolate, made a fire, made smores, sang, played games, and cooked hotdogs! It was hard to leave. The kids had a blast and could be as loud as they wanted!

Pics to come!

Prosper Homecoming

Tyler is going to school in Prosper now and today they got out of school at 12:15 for the parade! Love it! Tonight is the game and he is so excited. Of course, it is raining right now. :(

This week has been terribly long for some reason. Can't really tell you what we have do this week but it felt like it took forever for Friday to get here.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!!!

Tatum's school

Tatum started prek at CLC at our church this year. To say that she loves it is an understatement!! She loves Ms. Sarah. She gets up every single morning and asks if it is time to go to school even though she knows it isn't the right day! She loves to pick out her own clothes and help make her lunch...which is always the same because that is all she will eat!!!! Ugh!!!! She goes with her sweet friend Tate who has been with us since he was a tiny baby! She loves him!

One more thing has changed with Tatum this last week! She became a real Princess of our KING!! She accepted Christ into her heart on Wednesday evening at the dinner table. She and Tanner were carrying on their usual conversation about Heaven and Hell. Tanner was explaining again, about going there and what she would have to do to go too! Boy did she ever want to go with us!! She asked us to be quiet a minute and she said her own prayer...she did not want any help! She shouted, "I'm going to Heaven!!" It was precious! It is the best feeling a mother could have! We were a little nervous at first, because she is so young. But, our prayer is that God will reveal Himself more and more to her (and us!) and if she has anymore questions, she will just ask. Our church does this amazing class called "New Christian Class" for kids. It is exactly for this reason. They talk individually with each child making sure they understand everything. They show them the baptistry and the Lord's supper trays explaining what each thing means and why it is important for them to do it. I love it! And the best part is, parents participate too!

school

Today was the first day of school for the boys! Tanner has Mr. Kane for second grade and Tyler is going to Prosper to the Rogers Middle School. Both seemed to have fantastic day...couldn't stop talking about it!! Love that! Tatum goes to Meet the Teacher tomorrow at CLC. She starts on Thursday. We have been shopping for school clothes and she is loving it!

We went to my parent's this weekend for my sister's birthday! The kids of course loved it! Aunt Alli was trying to teach Tatum to do a cartwheel. She is starting gymnastics tomorrow. She is very excited!

Prayer

Have you ever thought about prayer? There are so many things going on in my life right now that require prayer. I have never prayed harder in all my life. This has me thinking...I read a post about prayer and it went along with what I had been thinking. I always pray as if God doesn't know me. I explain what is going on, a specific need, how I would like Him to answer, and oh, a quick thank you for everything else I have already asked for. Why??? The God that made the universe, the same God that gave his only Son for me..knows me. He already knows my needs, my wants and desires, my heart. I was reading in Psalms last night and was completely blown away by God's mercy and grace and love. It was so freeing!! I don't have to bog down my prayer time with the Lord on things He already knows. Sometimes it is so nice to just say "Lord...I love you!" He knows the rest of my story. It is enough just to rest in God loving arms..doesn't that feel great?!! What I have learned is that I don't always have to know what to say and even though the words do not come out of my mouth exactly the way I waned them to..He still understands!!! What comfort!!

Random

I just got home from the best weekend at my parents house. We just played games and the kids swam soooo much. Every time I turned around, they wanted back in! We grilled and dad always makes the kids a huge (he never does anything half way!!!) fire to make smores. They always love to go. Michael had to stay home and work :(
I can't believe July is already almost over!! But, we are coming up to my favorite part of the entire year. I love from about October to Christmas! I love it because the weather is cooler and getting ready for Christmas is so fun and the kids love it. We reflect nearly everyday the entire month of December on Jesus' birth...amazing! We do not do it nearly enough the rest of the year.

We had a Twilight movie marathon, again! Love those movies! However, I hate that they have to leave so much of the details from the book out.

The kids are spending a few days at Michael's parents now and the house is so quite!! I came home to a wonderful surprise, Michael cleaned the entire house for me. He even washed the sheets because that is my all time favorite thing! God blessed me with the most amazing husband! He is so thoughtful and loving and the kids have the best dad. He is constantly doing something for me and it amazes me everyday!!

Gotta go run a few errands..namely go get some groceries for our house!!

Terrible Blogger

I am sorry to anyone that is still reading this!! I have been an extremely terrible blogger. I thought once summer got here, I could catch up on this and a long list of things but so far we have been extremely busy!!! We have visited family, gone to church camp, celebrated a few birthdays, and gone camping. I will update with pics and all soon! I promise!

Tatum's Dance Recital

On Saturday, Tatum had her first dance recital. It was adorable. I was so nervous that she would not remember her dance or that she would not want to go on stage. She did go on stage and she did remember her dance. She knew so much that when it came time to switch places on stage, she got fighting mad at the little girl that was not following instructions and trade with her!! I was so afraid she was just going to push her out of the way. She repeatedly told the girl to switch and included pointing her finger in the direction the little girl was suppose to go in!! She finally gave up and returned to her original spot just in time for the last 3 seconds of the song! I was relieved! :)Here are some pictures:

Summer

Summer..oh how I love you so!! We are off to a great start this summer. Michael had time off with us. We have thrown my parents a 40th anniversary party. It was great for them. We are still in Oklahoma while Tyler goes to Day camp at my parents church. All of the cousins are here playing and we are having a ball!!

Hope everyone enjoys the day!!

Surgery

Michael's surgery went well today. It did take a little longer and the cut is longer than expected but the dr is confident he was able to remove all of the cancer. We are waiting for tests results to come back to make sure it was totally removed. Thank you Lord for a great morning with no complications. Will you continue to pray with me that the test will show that the cancer is gone!

My sweet friend Melissa is bringing dinner for us! What a blessing!! My mom and my mother-in-law came with us today. Thank you for taking that time to be here with us!

Resting in God's Grace

I am in the most difficult place I have ever been. My heart is so heavy. On Monday Michael had a skin biopsy done on a spot on his forehead. Yesterday, we got the news that confirmed my worst fear. It is cancer. It is not melenoma...Praise the Lord for that!!! It is slow growing and the dr is confident he can remove it all. It is one thing to say you have faith in God, but another thing entirely to actually "live" it. Everything I believe in, is being tested. That is a feeling I hope none of you will ever experience. But one thing I know for sure is true...we serve a mighty God. A God that is bigger than cancer! A God that is loving, forgiving, powerful, all knowing. A God in complete control. A God that knows the end, when we do not. A God that is soveren..loving, merciful. A God that has everything under control. A God that orchestrated all of this. And that is where I am resting...

Please pray for us. He goes in on the 24th to have the procedure done.

Mother's Day!

I had the very best day ever!! It started with breakfast in bed...french toast. I got beautiful roses and a card that says..."How does Breakfast in bed sound?" (openin the card) A VERY LOUD buzzing noise is coming from the inside and it is a smoke detector going off and it says, "it is the thought that counts, right??" Too funny! If I was not quite awake when the kids came in..I was sure awake when I opened the card! Ha! Michael also cooked out for lunch and did all of the cleaning up too! We finished the day off watching Heidi together! Love that movie!

On Friday, we drove to my parents to the Mother/Daughter banquet. It was so fun! Bryson's bday party was on Saturday and the kids of course had a blast and were not ready to go home. Michael had finished all of the cleaning that I didn't get to finish on Friday! So thankful for a husband that loves me and helps me!!!

Busy, busy!!

Boy have we been busy!!! I really don't know where our days have gone. First, I was sick for almost two straight weeks, then Tanner got sick right after that. So that takes alot out of you. Michael and I celebrated our 12th anniversary on April 22nd. We took the kids camping at Lake Murray this past weekend. We had so much fun...well, except for the rain Friday night! Tyler has been taking TAKS tests at school and today is his last one, science. A couple of weeks ago, he took the math and reading tests...pasted both of them but got commended performance on the Math which is amazing. It is the highest grade posible!!! Yay Tyler!

We are down to about 24 days of school left till summer!!! We can not wait! Sadly, once these tests are over, they are pretty much done with learning anything. They just have to go to meet the state requirements for the number of days in school.

Anyway, that is what is happening in our house right now. Nothing exciting...for once!!

Afternoon Conversations

This is my conversation with Tanner yesterday after school..

Me: How was school today?

Tanner: Good, but I need a break. Why don't kids ever get a break?

Me: What do you mean?

Tanner: Like you.

Me: Like me? I get a break?

Tanner: Yea, I go to school everyday, but all you do is sit here and watch kids all day.

Thanks Tanner, I appreciate it! Oh, to be a kid again!!

We Weekend, our women's retreat

I had a terrific time at our women's retreat! Amazing! The theme was 10 ways to "FOOL-PROOF" your life. I saw God working in ways I had never experienced in my life!! Maybe it is because I have grown in the Lord, but I have never been apart of a church that seeks to serve God, serve others, and see souls saved and than what we have been apart of the last two years. Not only that, we are challenged every single week to do more for Christ than we did the week before, and we are given the tools to do it. This weekend was no different. I saw women on their knees, looking to God, tears running down their cheeks, hands lifted high to the Lord....broken before Him!! Forever changed....

We heard from a women named Jen Strickland who had it all. A career in modeling, the tiny, tiny body..beautiful hair, money. But she didn't have the Lord. She was on TV, and was "Barbie" for their 35th anniversary. She shared her experience in that world. She was in Paris, Rome, Madrid, everywhere seeking new jobs..new thrills. But, she was abused, raped, drugged..you name it. But she didn't have the Lord. She shared how she was looking for affirmation and love from anyone that would give it. She shared her struggles and how finally when she didn't have anyone else, she found Jesus!!

There were 32 breakout sessions to choose from...anything from mothers of small children, or mothers of teens, to making your house a home, learning to seek God, why God isn't answering your prayers. If any of you would like to download any of the class notes, they are available at www.prestonwood.org/women.

It was worth every penny!!! Thank you Michael for watching the kids and doing everything you did around the house!

Ballet

Tatum has started ballet/tap dance lessons! It is the cutest thing I think I have ever seen! All of the little girls in her class are around the same age. I think there are usually 6 of them and to see the teacher trying to get all of them to do the same exact thing at the same exact time is comical. She love it though. And the best part is, they teach them about God. They go over different character traits and teach them that they are God's child and everything we do can glorify Him. At the end, they say a prayer and are dismissed. So, if you live in my area, you should try Encore Centre for Dance. It is based on Biblical principles which we love!!

I have yet to figure out this whole picture thing. I don't know how to make them show up where I want them too!! Ugh! Anyway, there are two that are in the studio and one that is of her in the car on the way to her first lesson!

She has a summer concert on June 18th! Can't wait!

Spring Break!

I love, love spring break!! By the time it gets here, I am in definite need of it! It allows us to get reenergized and excited about the changes that are brought by new seasons!

Our week in review:
We decided to go to visit each of our parents since we were both of the majority of the week!! Saturday we took the kids to Michael's parents farm. The kids love going there. We had a picnic, went fishing, and also did a little hiking in an area they have. The kids even found old cow bones....discusting!! Of course, they loved it. On Sunday, we got to see our little neice get baptized. What a blessing! She was so proud. On Monday, we took the kids to the Children's Museum in Seminole. I highly recommend it if you live anywhere close to it. Wonderful!! They have a grocery store that the kids can play in, bubble machines, huge outdoor maze, and also an area about tornadoes! You get inside of this little capsule thing (big words I know) and the winds get up to 78 miles an hour. There is also a video of a tornado!

Then, we went to my parents house Monday afternoon. The kids have a ball! They get to run and play in their huge yard. I love it because there isn't a street for cars to come flying down. They have a huge driveway that the kids can ride their bikes on. Less than two hours after we got there, Tanner fell and broke his collar bone. However, the crazy little boy didn't tell us until Tuesday at lunchtime!! He was too afraid of going to the doctor so the poor thing slept all night in pain, or at least attempted to sleep!!! So, we spent most of the afternoon at the doctor's office and then had to cut our trip a little short to come home to see an Orthopedic Dr. He is doing fine..just has to wear an arm brace. We also took the kids to the zoo...FYI: on spring break, the only zoo in the OKC surrounding area WILL BE PACKED!!!! We had a great day anyway!!

I am very sad to say that I don't have any pictures!! My camera battery was dead and I forgot to bring the charger.

Random

I have had nothing blog worthy to talk about lately. Plus, add that with Spring fever and you get absolutely nothing!! We have started our countdown to Spring Break. Can you believe it?? We are planning on just visiting family for our break. It will be nice since Michael is off too!

I had dinner with a great friend last night that I have not seen in a few months. It was great getting out and having girl talk without little girls interrupting...if you know my Tatum, you know that girl is ALWAYS talking! Yep, that is how we know she is asleep every night. She stops talking!! Thank you to my fabulous husband who is always willing to give me special times like this.

I am feeling incredibly blessed lately. One thing about going through the storms of life is that God always has something better planned for you on the other side. Amazing!!

I will leave you with this:
John 6:35
Jesus said, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst."

Weekend trip

We went to Arkansas this weekend to see our dear friends, Jason and Sarah. The kids and I had to go by ourselves because Michael had to work. The drive was long but totally worth it! Baby Sophie is precious!! She has the biggest smile! Jason was so nice to watch all six kids while Sarah and I met some girls for a movie and dinner. He did exactly what Michael would have done..he let them stay outside for 4.5 straight hours!! They had a wonderful time and it has been so cold lately that they have really missed being outside. The trip sure was not long enough! In the pictures, we were trying clothes on for Sunday morning and the other one is of Katlyn and Tanner.

Freedom 2010

Last weekend Michael and I took part in our Freedom (Desciple Now for some of you) with our youth at church. Michael lead a group of 8th grade boys, I had a group of 8th grade girls. It was amazing! The Lord really worked in the lives of our students. We had over 60 total decisions for Christ, 40 of them being for Salvation!!! We had around 470 participants, including adults. I had 11 girls and they were great! Michael had 6 boys and this is what they turned him into! Oh, and there is nothing wrong with my camera in these pics, it is the fog machine! Have you ever tried to breathe that stuff for a long period of time?? We did learn one thing for sure, Michael and I are not that young anymore!!

Hello Snow!

I know I have some long over due posts! We have just been so busy lately that I haven't found the time to update! Here are some pictures of the snow storm we got "unexpectedly". Apparently, it has not snowed in the Dallas area like this for 111 years! Anyway, it looked so beautiful, well except when you have to drive your kids to Oklahoma to visit Nana and Papa. We had 9 inches in our backyard!

Daddy/Daughter Dance

Tatum had a great time with her daddy at the dance! She said she had cookies with M&M's.

Michael came to the door to pick her up around 3:45pm. They went to the dance and then to Red Lobster to eat dinner. So glad she ended up loving it because Michael thought he had lost his date because of the Alice in Wonderland movie that was playing! I talked Michael into a black tie with pink stripes so they could match.

After she got home, she had to show me how she was dancing. That is the pic above of her and Michael dancing at home.

This is not what I signed up for!!

After having a bit of a rough week just trying to keep my head above water, I went to our Women's kickoff event for our spring Bible studies. It was FABULOUS!! God really was working there! Our women's director really spoke from her heart and talked about whatever "IT" is that is keeping you separated from God. After she shared what God had laid on her heart, she instructed us to write down our "it" on a sticky note and place it at the alter for God.

That lifted such burdens for me! I know you know this, but the minute you give something to God, the devil is going to work double overtime to get you to take it back!!

It took a whole 10 hours, people!!!

Let me explain my evening to give you a good picture!
I had not been able to run any errands this past week so I had quite a few. Not good when your husband is working and you have to take all three kids with you. I say lets get our shoes and get in the car. And it begins..."How many places do we have to go?", I know you said it was freezing outside, " but do I really have to get my big coat on?" , "I am sitting in the middle and you have to sit way in the back!", "Do I have to bucket my car seat?" Ugh!!

Then when we finally make it to the car and start down the road, it turns into this.
"Why did I have to sit back here?"
"We are only going to three places..no she said four...no three. I was listening, she said 3!"
"I'm hungry!"
"Mom, can you turn the radio up?"
"It's hurting my ears, can you turn it down?"

We had to stop at the Athletic Center to buy tickets to the dance. It is freezing cold outside and of course there are no parking spaces even remotely close to the door. I get out of the car and Tatum has taken off her coat and can't find it because it is dark. The boys are screaming at how cold it is..we find the jacket and run toward the door. Do you think the people that are warm and cozy in their cars are stopping at the cross walk to let a crazy lady who gets all three of her kids out in this weather to run errands walk by? No!!

Inside, we walk up to the window to purchase tickets and we are told to fill out a form. While I am filling out the form, this is what took place:
Tatum: (shoving tanner) "move over Tanner, you are in my space!"
Tanner: (Shoving back) " no I am not, you moved over to me!!"
Tatum: "No, I didn't..these are my tickets, not yours!"
Me: (giving them the meanest look I could possibly make in public) "Move over Tanner!"
Let me just say that the long line of people behind were getting a kick out of it by this point.
Tatum: (pulling the pens out of the cup) "What is this for on the end of the pen?"
Tanner: (Yanking the pen out of her hand) "This is not for you!"
They fight over the pen and knock the whole cup over spilling all of the pens! I wanted to scream!!
Did I mention that the guy on the other side of the counter is the slowest person I have ever seen using a computer?!!

Back in the car:
Tatum: "Mom, can we get my crown now?"
Tanner: "It is not a princess/daddy dance..it is a daughter/daddy dance!!"
Tyler: "do you know what a daughter is?"

We finally made it to Walmart! I take my drink inside with me because Tanner and Tatum decided they wanted the popcorn chicken from the deli for dinner and they would need something to drink. I grab a cart and we walk up to the deli counter. As I am ordering the chicken, Tanner decides he is going to eat his chicken sitting in the cart and tries to climb over the side of the cart. He stands on the bottom of the cart and he flips the cart over knocking my drink all over me and onto the floor!! Twenty seconds into the door!!! The poor kids behind the counter is terrified at the site of us..he has never seen a circus like ours before. Tanner is crying because he is sorry...the kids at the counter is running from us, I mean running to get something to clean up our mess, and I want to run back out the door!

After trying more than one time to talk to my sister on the phone, I tell her I will call her when I get home. Through out the store, I have to stop bickering, shoving, crying, and running. And, don't forget all of the "Can I have this?" that we encounter throughout the isles! We wait for about 20 minutes in the checkout line because Walmart is the world worst store when it comes to checking out their customers. You would think there would never be an empty checkout lane because they are so eager to take your money from you!!

We make it home in one piece! The complaining, bickering, huffing continues until all of the groceries are brought inside. Did I tell you at the beginning of this that our garage door is broken again?! So, we are bringing groceries in from outside.

I finally wrestle the kids into bed and my sister is calling me. I answer the phone, she asks "what did you want to ask me?" and I reply, "Is it illegal to sell your kids?"

She starts laughing histerically...I am glad someone could get a kick out of my evening! And to top it off, Michael has to work all weekend! Yay for me!

Morning Coversation

This the conversation I had with Tatum this morning:

Me: You are so sweet...I am so happy that God gave me such a special little girl just for me.
Tatum: Thank you
Me: He (God) gave me only one girl but two boys.
Tatum: Yeah, but they are bad!
Me: Why do you so that?
Tatum: Because Tanner gets potty on the toilet seat and he DOESN"T clean it up!!

My sweet Tatum

Tatum and I had a girls afternoon a couple of weeks ago. She wanted to go to the library. While we were there, she found a flyer with Alice and Wonderland on it and it was for Frisco's annual Daddy/Daughter dance. She was so excited! We met Michael a couple hours later and she held onto that piece of paper until she could show her daddy what she found. She would not even let the boys look at it! When she tells people about where she is going, she will say, "I am going to the daddy/daughter dance it is not for moms or brothers!" I have waited for this forever! So, this weekend we are going shopping for a dress.

This is her favorite thing!

Funny story about these wings..she saw them at the store and decided that she wanted to be a fairy for halloween. She we brought them home and she just couldn't wait to put them on! So, we put them on and she began to run around the house and laugh and play. After a couple of minutes, she brought them to me telling me we need to take them back to the store. I asked her why and she said, "Well, they are broken...I can't fly." I felt so bad for her..she picked them out only because she thought they would actually make her fly! So, of course, daddy comes to the rescue!

Sad News

I realized this past Friday that my parents do, in fact, have a life apart from their children! Aww! No, Just kidding!

The kids had been missing my parents and so on a whim, we loaded up on Friday after school and headed to Oklahoma! We were going to surprise my parents but they had plans for a movie...it was still great! I am so glad after all of these years, they still enjoy stuff like that together. They will be married for 40 years this coming summer! What an example! Kristi and the girls loaded up and we had a slumber party!

The three little ones stayed with us and had their own party, while the big kids went to my brothers to spend the night!

The kids wrestled each other, played games, ran and played outside (my boys favorite)!

We ended up with one extra monkey on the ride back! Bryson has had so much fun here the last couple of days! So sad he has to leave tomorrow :(

Crazy Night

Well, Tanner was sick again last night! For those of you that know about him...the boy is sick with his stomach all of the time!! Not fun! So, he is home from school, only he feels better now! Of course. We had a wonderful weekend! Michael was off and we had a great time.

Yesterday, the kids and I planned on going to see The Princess and the Frog. We were so excited! However, my sweet friend Jen sent me a message on Facebook about the movie. She had not heard good things about it. So, I looked on our christian radio station and found the link they have for family friendly movies. After looking at review, I was broken hearted. I had to tell the kids that we could not go see it. I would have never thought that a Disney movie would make me have to do that. It is full of voodoo magic, dolls, demons, ect. It is tough being a mom sometimes. They were so sad.

However, we had a great day anyway! We went to Sonic's happy hour, gotta love that, and we went to the park and ended with the boys school playing football. The weather here has been great!! Happy Tuesday!

Family Night

This is the best night of my entire week! Sometimes Michael's work schedule interferes with our fun, but most Friday nights, we try to do something fun with the kids.

Tyler and I got beat at Disney Scene It!

We made ice cream sundaes with chocolate and m&mS! Yum!

Thoughts for Today

I read this in my reading this morning...

Hebrews 2:14-18
Inasmuch then as the children have pertaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. For indeed He does not give aid to angels, bet He does give aid to the seed of Abraham. Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brethren, the He mightt be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted.

Isn't that amazing?!! Such hope in the Lord!! This serves as another reminder that God has everything under control and is there when we need it!!

Looking back on 2009

I do not like making New Year's resolutions. I am just of the mindset that if something needs changed, or fixed, don't put it off...do it now! Anyway, that is why God and I have some of the same conversations over and over and over again! My timing is always NOW and His always seems to be WAIT or LATER. But, no matter what, He has truly blessed our family. We had a wonderful year last year and I cant wait to see what 2010 brings us. Here is a list of things from 2009:

1. God called Michael to full time ministry!!

2. The boys started playing sports! Tyler played football and Tanner played soccer. Tyler played QB!

3. Michael and I started serving in our youth department at church! God has truly blessed us with a great group of students!

4. We took the boys to Texas vs. NC basketball game at the new Dallas Cowboy Stadium!

5. I was able to go to Beach camp with our students and we saw over 50 students get baptized while we were there! Praise God!
