After having a bit of a rough week just trying to keep my head above water, I went to our Women's kickoff event for our spring Bible studies. It was FABULOUS!! God really was working there! Our women's director really spoke from her heart and talked about whatever "IT" is that is keeping you separated from God. After she shared what God had laid on her heart, she instructed us to write down our "it" on a sticky note and place it at the alter for God.
That lifted such burdens for me! I know you know this, but the minute you give something to God, the devil is going to work double overtime to get you to take it back!!
It took a whole 10 hours, people!!!
Let me explain my evening to give you a good picture!
I had not been able to run any errands this past week so I had quite a few. Not good when your husband is working and you have to take all three kids with you. I say lets get our shoes and get in the car. And it begins..."How many places do we have to go?", I know you said it was freezing outside, " but do I really have to get my big coat on?" , "I am sitting in the middle and you have to sit way in the back!", "Do I have to bucket my car seat?" Ugh!!
Then when we finally make it to the car and start down the road, it turns into this.
"Why did I have to sit back here?"
"We are only going to three places..no she said four...no three. I was listening, she said 3!"
"I'm hungry!"
"Mom, can you turn the radio up?"
"It's hurting my ears, can you turn it down?"
We had to stop at the Athletic Center to buy tickets to the dance. It is freezing cold outside and of course there are no parking spaces even remotely close to the door. I get out of the car and Tatum has taken off her coat and can't find it because it is dark. The boys are screaming at how cold it is..we find the jacket and run toward the door. Do you think the people that are warm and cozy in their cars are stopping at the cross walk to let a crazy lady who gets all three of her kids out in this weather to run errands walk by? No!!
Inside, we walk up to the window to purchase tickets and we are told to fill out a form. While I am filling out the form, this is what took place:
Tatum: (shoving tanner) "move over Tanner, you are in my space!"
Tanner: (Shoving back) " no I am not, you moved over to me!!"
Tatum: "No, I didn't..these are my tickets, not yours!"
Me: (giving them the meanest look I could possibly make in public) "Move over Tanner!"
Let me just say that the long line of people behind were getting a kick out of it by this point.
Tatum: (pulling the pens out of the cup) "What is this for on the end of the pen?"
Tanner: (Yanking the pen out of her hand) "This is not for you!"
They fight over the pen and knock the whole cup over spilling all of the pens! I wanted to scream!!
Did I mention that the guy on the other side of the counter is the slowest person I have ever seen using a computer?!!
Back in the car:
Tatum: "Mom, can we get my crown now?"
Tanner: "It is not a princess/daddy dance..it is a daughter/daddy dance!!"
Tyler: "do you know what a daughter is?"
We finally made it to Walmart! I take my drink inside with me because Tanner and Tatum decided they wanted the popcorn chicken from the deli for dinner and they would need something to drink. I grab a cart and we walk up to the deli counter. As I am ordering the chicken, Tanner decides he is going to eat his chicken sitting in the cart and tries to climb over the side of the cart. He stands on the bottom of the cart and he flips the cart over knocking my drink all over me and onto the floor!! Twenty seconds into the door!!! The poor kids behind the counter is terrified at the site of us..he has never seen a circus like ours before. Tanner is crying because he is sorry...the kids at the counter is running from us, I mean running to get something to clean up our mess, and I want to run back out the door!
After trying more than one time to talk to my sister on the phone, I tell her I will call her when I get home. Through out the store, I have to stop bickering, shoving, crying, and running. And, don't forget all of the "Can I have this?" that we encounter throughout the isles! We wait for about 20 minutes in the checkout line because Walmart is the world worst store when it comes to checking out their customers. You would think there would never be an empty checkout lane because they are so eager to take your money from you!!
We make it home in one piece! The complaining, bickering, huffing continues until all of the groceries are brought inside. Did I tell you at the beginning of this that our garage door is broken again?! So, we are bringing groceries in from outside.
I finally wrestle the kids into bed and my sister is calling me. I answer the phone, she asks "what did you want to ask me?" and I reply, "Is it illegal to sell your kids?"
She starts laughing histerically...I am glad someone could get a kick out of my evening! And to top it off, Michael has to work all weekend! Yay for me!

Oh Lori! I'm so sorry your evening was that bad...I have to tell you the way you told your story made me laugh though. I've definately had that kind of day! Honestly I don't know how single mothers do...sometimes I think I'm going to pull my hair out and they'll have to commit me. :)
All I have to say is Romans 8:28.
AMEN!!!
